This book is an outcome, amongst others, of the ERC-funded project, PASTRES (www.pastres.org), which looks at how uncertainty is responded to in the pastoral world. In this book, our common interest and inspiration centres on pastoral mobil- ities and human migration. Migration in agro-pastoral areas in Europe is the main focus of the book. Through the in-depth experience of the authors, the interfaces. The interfaces between agriculture, rural development, and migration studies in agro-pastoral settings have been extensively analysed across the book, with a view to understanding the reconfiguration of the human, political, and natural landscapes in the Mediterraneanrnand beyond. These are the domains in which the authors have in-depth experience.rnAmongst the many inspiring friends and colleagues, we would like to specifically thank Anna Triandafyllidou and Ian Scoones for this opportunity to reflect and report on our experiences in agro-pastoral settings.
