Functionalized nanoparticles loaded nanocomposites have triggered much greater attention in scientificrnliterature as these provide versatile property improvements, even at low particulate concentration, rnresulting in high level performance in energy applications. These performances are based on severalrnparameters, but nanoparticle dispersion and distribution are the key challenges to achieve the fullrnexploitation of nanocomposites in many energy application areas. This review focuses on in-depth appli-cations of such nanocomposites in areas of solar cells and water-splitting. This review also covers differ-ent strategies for improving their properties with unique applications. In many applications such asrnenvironmental remediation, energy (solar cell and water splitting), and sensing, polymeric nanocompos-ites has also been studied extensively. Detailed research activities were conducted to resolve problems inrnenergy and the environment. The focus of this review is on the synthesis and applications of polymer-based nanocomposites in the energy field
