The growth of water hyacinth has been a great concern for many years. Its growth hampers the flora andrnfauna of aquatic ecosystem. The diversity of fish stocks is also affected by the proliferation of water hya-cinth. Since the plant causes terrible nuisance it must be utilized to produce some useful sources ofrnenergy. The useful properties of water hyacinth will be utilized to form end products. This paper reviewsrnthe research done on the processes of extracting useful by-products from water hyacinth. Considering thernnuisance caused by this aquatic weed it is very much necessary to convert it into some useful source ofrnenergy. Hence the main aim of this paper is to study the various articles published on water hyacinth asrnthe source of renewable energy
